EFPC at EPH 2025 – Sparking Fresh Thinking in Helsinki!

Published on November 14, 2025

On 11 November 2025, EFPC member Mike Traub took the stage at the EPH pre-conference workshop “Re-thinking public health and primary care” to deliver a compelling exploration of how interprofessional collaboration can reshape the future of healthcare in Europe.

Mike shared key insights from the PRIMORE (European PRImary care Multi-prOfessional Researcher network) Phase II project, which focuses on strengthening interprofessional collaboration (IpC) in primary care,  a cornerstone of building people-centred, resilient, and responsive health systems.

Drawing on findings from PRIMORE’s extensive mapping exercise, a combination of a systematic literature review and a Europe-wide survey of primary care organisations,  the presentation highlighted:

  • Why increasingly complex health needs require diverse, well-connected teams

  • What truly enables (or obstructs) effective interprofessional collaboration

  • Evidence emerging from both the literature and real-world practice across Europe

The workshop moved beyond traditional presentations, encouraging participants to rethink teamwork, skills, and shared competencies through creative discussion formats. The result? Lively exchanges, bold ideas, and renewed momentum for advancing integrated primary care across Europe.

We also extend our appreciation to Lorena Dini, EFPC and former Advisory Board member, for her valuable support and facilitation during the workshop.

A huge thank you to the young PRIMORE researchers, partners, and all participants in Helsinki who continue to drive innovation in primary care.
